We are looking for a Python developer to join Dynamic Languages team that defines firmwide Python vision, modernization strategy, standards and maintains the Python programming language environment. We also collaborate with Python developers in other areas, particularly Machine Learning, to encourage best practices. The team is currently led out of London and this role is part of a build out of the team in Glasgow.

Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) delivers shared technology services for the Firm supporting all business applications and end users. ETS provides capabilities for all stages of the Firm’s software development lifecycle, enabling productive coding, functional and integration testing, application releases, and ongoing monitoring and support for over 3,000 production applications. EAI group is part of ETS and supports developers in all programming languages across the firm. The Dynamic Languages team is part of EAI and looks after Python and KDB.

What will you be doing?

    Help define Python modernization, vision, and strategy at firm
    Be part of a group which defines Python developer experience including venv, artifactory, containerization, IDE
    Develop Python modules for internal firmwide Python community
    Evaluate and onboard Python modules from open source

    Help developers with Python related problems, and be the ultimate point of python escalation and knowledge internally

QUALIFICATIONS

What we’re looking for:
    Deep knowledge of Python, including internals
    Solid understanding of data-structures, algorithms, and other CS fundamentals.
    Strong UNIX skills
    Natural inclination to dig beneath the surface to understand how things work, why they are a certain way and what the design trade-offs are.

Skills that will help you in the role:
    Good in communication, dealing with both simple and complex queries, time, and project management

    It is a technology-focused role and there is no requirement for business knowledge


Where will you be working?
This role is based at our Glasgow office on Waterloo Street in the city center. This location has a wellness center, including gym and shower/changing facilities, GP, Prayer room, canteen, and onsite Starbucks.
